What is a U-Value?
The most used measurement of a window or doors’ thermal efficiency in the UK is a U-value. Measuring an object’s ability to retain heat, the lower the value the more thermally efficient it is. Due to the development in technology and manufacturing techniques U-values have become significantly lower and today Building Regulations require windows and doors to have a U-value of 1.6W/m2K, whereas in the early 2000s the U-value requirement was 3.1W/m2K.

What are thermal breaks?

However, thanks to thermal break technology, the frames are incredibly thermally efficient.
The thermal break features a reinforced polyamide bar that is positioned between the inside and outside of the aluminium profile, creating an insulated barrier that effectively reduces temperature transfer.

Sealing the gaps along the door frame significantly reduces the level of noise, draughts, and moisture.
